Systems and methods for multi-function and multi-purpose cryptography

A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored therein computer executable instructions for:

• obtaining, by a cipher engine executing on a computing system, a message for a server and an identifier of the server, wherein the message is to be encrypted by the cipher engine;
• performing a look up in key information stored on the computing system, using the identifier of the server, to determine a cryptographic scheme associated in the key information with the identifier of the server, wherein the key information comprises a plurality of associations, wherein each association comprises an association between an identifier of a system and a cryptographic scheme to be used for communication with that system, and wherein the determined cryptographic scheme defines an encryption scheme;
• encrypting, by the cipher engine, the message using the encryption scheme to produce a ciphertext;
• and
• sending the ciphertext to the server without identifying the encryption scheme with the ciphertext.

At least one computing device comprising storage and at least one processor configured to perform:

• obtaining, by a cipher engine executing on a computing system, a message for a server and an identifier of the server, wherein the message is to be encrypted by the cipher engine;
• performing a look up in key information stored on the computing system, using the identifier of the server, to determine a cryptographic scheme associated in the key information with the identifier of the server, wherein the key information comprises a plurality of associations, wherein each association comprises an association between an identifier of a system and a cryptographic scheme to be used for communication with that system, and wherein the determined cryptographic scheme defines an encryption scheme;
• encrypting, by the cipher engine, the message using the encryption scheme to produce a ciphertext;
• and
• sending the ciphertext to the server without identifying the encryption scheme with the ciphertext.
