Abstract
A method of configuring an image for data storage on a storage device in an overlapping-tiled format and a method of displaying a desired image selected for viewing on a display are disclosed. The method of configuring an image for data storage includes formatting an image to include a plurality of image tiles, each image tile in the plurality of image tiles having at least a portion that is substantially identical to at least a portion of an adjacent image tile in the plurality of image tiles. The method further includes converting data of the image from data in a first color space into data in a second color space so as to reduce a size of the data of the image, and storing the image data in the second color space.
Claims12
A method of displaying a desired image selected for viewing on a display device, comprising:
- receiving an instruction to display on the display device the desired image, the desired image being a portion of an image tile in a plurality of image tiles of a master image, each image tile in the plurality of image tiles having at least a portion that is substantially identical to at least a portion of an adjacent image tile in the plurality of image tiles;
- determining a location of the desired image within the plurality of tiles;
- reading data corresponding to the image tile where the desired image is located from a storage device;
- converting the data corresponding to the image tile comprising the desired image from a first color space into data in a second color space;
- and
- displaying data in the second color space corresponding to the desired image on the display device.
A computer system configured to display a desired image on a display device, the computer system comprising one or more processors configured to:
- receive an instruction to display on the display device the desired image, the desired image being a portion of an image tile in a plurality of image tiles of a master image, each image tile in the plurality of image tiles having at least a portion that is substantially identical to at least a portion of an adjacent image tile in the plurality of image tiles;
- determine a location of the desired image within the plurality of tiles;
- read data corresponding to the image tile where the desired image is located from a storage device in communication with the one or more processors;
- convert the data corresponding to the image tile comprising the desired image from a first color space into data in a second color space;
- and
- display data in the second color space corresponding to the desired image on the display device.
