Abstract
Described herein is a device comprising a plurality of first reaction electrodes arranged in an array, the plurality of first reaction electrodes configured to be exposed to a solution and having a capacitance; first circuitry configured to controllably connect the plurality of first reaction electrodes to a bias source and controllably disconnect the plurality of first reaction electrodes from the bias source; and second circuitry configured to measure a rate of charging or discharging of the capacitance. Also described herein is a method of using this device to sequence DNA.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- contacting an electrode of a device comprising a first circuitry and a second circuitry to a solution comprising one or more analyte, the electrode having a capacitance and arranged in an array comprising a plurality of electrodes;
- connecting the electrode to a bias source such that a voltage of the electrode is substantially at a voltage of the bias source;
- disconnecting the electrode from the bias source;
- and
- measuring change of the voltage of the electrode;
- wherein the device comprises the plurality of electrodes arranged in the array, the plurality of electrodes configured to be exposed to the solution and having the capacitance;
- and
- wherein the first circuitry is configured to (a) set a DC voltage on the electrode, and configured to charge or discharge the capacitance through a redox reaction occurring at the electrode;
- and the second circuitry is configured to measure a rate of charging or discharging of the capacitance of the electrode, or (b) controllably connect the electrode to the bias source and controllably disconnect the electrode from the bias source;
- and the second circuitry is configured to measure the rate of charging or discharging of the capacitance of the electrode.
