A method for labeling containers in a beverage bottling plant and a labeling station for a labeling machine in a beverage bottle labeling plant. The abstract of the disclosure is submitted herewith as required by 37 C.F.R. §1.72(b). Dependent claims

A method of labeling containers comprising:

applying glue with a gluing arrangement to a first side of a portion of a strip of label material not in contact with a transfer arrangement, wherein the transfer arrangement includes only a transfer drum, and subsequently feeding said glued portion from said gluing arrangement directly to said transfer arrangement with said first side facing away from said transfer arrangement;
separating said glued portion from said strip and thereby forming an individual label;
and
transferring said individual label from said transfer arrangement to a container moving past said transfer arrangement.

A method of labeling containers comprising:

feeding a strip of label material adjacent a glue application device and tensioning said strip against said glue application device;
applying glue to a portion of said strip;
separating said glued portion from said strip and thereby forming an individual label;
transferring said individual label using a transfer arrangement to a container moving past said transfer arrangement;
and
wherein said step of applying glue is performed when said portion of said strip is not in contact with said transfer arrangement, and said method further comprises feeding said glued portion to said transfer arrangement subsequent to said step of applying glue.
