Vehicle vision system for controlling a vehicle safety feature responsive to an imaging sensor having an exterior rearward field of view and before a collision occurs

A safety system for a vehicle, said safety system comprising:

• an imaging sensor having an exterior rearward field of view, said imaging sensor capturing image data;
• an image processor operable to process image data captured by said imaging sensor to detect an object approaching the subject vehicle from rearward of the subject vehicle;
• wherein said safety system is operable to determine if the detected object is likely to collide with the subject vehicle and wherein, responsive to said determination of a likely collision, said safety system is operable to adjust a headrest of a seat of the subject vehicle;
• and
• wherein said safety system is deactivated when a reverse gear of the subject vehicle is engaged so that said safety system does not adjust the headrest of the seat of the subject vehicle when the reverse gear of the subject vehicle is engaged.

A safety system for a vehicle, said safety system comprising:

• an imaging sensor disposed at a rearward portion of the vehicle and having an exterior rearward field of view, said imaging sensor capturing image data;
• an image processor operable to process image data captured by said imaging sensor to detect an object approaching the subject vehicle from rearward of the subject vehicle;
• wherein said safety system is operable to determine if the detected object is likely to collide with the subject vehicle and wherein, responsive to said determination of a likely collision, said safety system is operable to adjust a position of a headrest of a seat of the subject vehicle;
• wherein said safety system is operable to adjust the position of the headrest of the seat responsive to a detection that the seat is occupied by an occupant of the vehicle;
• and
• wherein said safety system is deactivated when a reverse gear of the subject vehicle is engaged so that said safety system does not adjust the position of the headrest of the seat when the reverse gear of the subject vehicle is engaged.
