Abstract
A method of treating a preceramic material includes providing a preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane material that includes a moiety Si—O-M, where Si is silicon, O is oxygen and M is at least one metal, and thermally converting the preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane that includes the moiety Si—O-M material into a ceramic material.

A method of treating a preceramic material, the method comprising:
- providing a preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane material that includes a moiety Si—O-M, where Si is silicon, O is oxygen and M is at least one metal that is an alkaline earth metal selected from the group consisting of barium, strontium, calcium, magnesium, and combinations thereof;
- and
- thermally converting the preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane that includes the moiety Si—O-M material into a ceramic material.
A method of treating a preceramic material, the method comprising:
- providing a preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane material that includes a moiety Si—O-M, where Si is silicon, O is oxygen and M is at least one metal;
- thermally converting the preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane that includes the moiety Si—O-M material into a ceramic material, wherein at least one metal is an alkaline earth metal selected from the group consisting of barium, strontium, calcium, magnesium, and combinations thereof;
- and
- crushing the ceramic material from the thermal converting to produce a particulate material.
