Abstract
The present invention provides methods to reduce or inhibit weight gain by administering inhibitors of the SirT1 protein to a subject. Methods to identify such inhibitors are also disclosed.

A method for treating or preventing obesity in a subject, the method comprising reducing the activity of a sirtuin 1 (SirT1) deacetylase protein in the subject.
A method of treating or preventing obesity in a subject, the method comprising the step of administering an inhibitor of a sirtuin 1 (SirT1) deacetylase protein to the subject.
