Abstract
The present invention provides a boron drug for boron neutron capture therapy for liver cancer, which is an aqueous solution of boric acid.
Claims16
A Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) method for treating a liver cancer in a subject comprising administering boric acid to said subject, and subjecting said liver cancer in the subject to neutron irradiation from a source that emits epithermal neutrons, wherein said boric acid is in the form of an aqueous solution, wherein said administering comprises intravenously injecting said aqueous solution of boric acid to said subject, and wherein said method does not comprise administering any drug other than boric acid to said subject.
A method of using boric acid in treating a liver cancer in a patient by BNCT comprising preparing an aqueous solution of boric acid, wherein boron of said boric acid is composed of a majority of 10B stable isotope;
- intravenously injecting said aqueous solution of boric acid to said patient in a dose of about 5-60 mg of 10B stable isotope per kilogram of patient body weight;
- and conducting neutron irradiation from a source that emits epithermal neutrons to said patient within a period of 10-120 minutes after said intravenous injection, and wherein said method does not comprise administering any drug other than boric acid to said subject.
A method of using boric acid in treating a liver cancer in a patient by BNCT comprising preparing an aqueous solution of boric acid, wherein boron of said boric acid is composed of a majority of 10B stable isotope;
- intravenously injecting said aqueous solution of boric acid to said patient in a dose of about 5-60 mg of said 10B stable isotope per kilogram of patient body weight;
- monitoring a concentration of said 10B stable isotope in the patients blood;
- and conducting neutron irradiation from a source that emits epithermal neutrons to said patient according to a result of said monitoring, wherein said monitoring comprises measuring concentrations of said 10B stable isotope in the patient's blood and comparing the measured concentrations to a desired value wherein said desired value is more than 20 μg of said 10B stable isotope/mL, and wherein said method does not comprise administering any drug other than boric acid to said subject.
