A holographic data storage device comprising an optically transparent substrate, wherein the optically transparent substrate comprises a photochemically active dye which increases in quantum efficiency from absorbing in a range from an ultraviolet (UV) spectrum through a visible spectrum and a heat generating chromophore configured to photoexcite in response to a wavelength from approximately 300 nm to approximately 800 nm and deexcite to generate heat to increase the quantum efficiency of the photochemically active dye.
A holographic data storage device comprising an optically transparent substrate, wherein the optically transparent substrate comprises a photochemically active dye which increases in quantum efficiency from absorbing in a range from an ultraviolet (UV) spectrum through a visible spectrum and a reverse saturable absorber chromophore configured to photoexcite in response to a wavelength from approximately 300 nm to approximately 800 nm and deexcite to generate heat to increase the quantum efficiency of the photochemically active dye.
A holographic data storage device comprising an optically transparent substrate, wherein the optically transparent substrate comprises a photochemically active dye which increases in quantum efficiency from absorbing in a range from an ultraviolet (UV) spectrum through a visible spectrum and configured to convert to a photo-product upon irradiation and a heat generating chromophore configured to photoexcite in response to a wavelength from approximately 300 nm to approximately 800 nm and deexcite to generate heat to increase the quantum efficiency of the photochemically active dye.
A method of making a holographic data storage device comprising:
- mixing an optically transparent plastic material, a photochemically active dye which increases in quantum efficiency from absorbing in a range from an ultraviolet (UV) spectrum through a visible spectrum, and a heat generating chromophore photoexcitable in response to a wavelength from approximately 300 nm to approximately 800 nm to form a mixed composition, wherein the photochemically active dye has a quantum efficiency changeable by heat generated by the heat generating chromophore when the heat generating chromophore is deexcited;
- and
- molding the mixed composition to form a holographic storage device.
