Abstract
Methods directed to the synthesis and peroxide-modification of nanosized monosodium titanate are described. Methods include combination of reactants at a low concentration to a solution including a nonionic surfactant. The nanosized monosodium titanate can exhibit high selectivity for sorbing various metallic ions.
Claims17
A method for forming nanosized monosodium titanate comprising:
- combining a first solution, a second solution, and a third solution to form a mixture, the first solution including a titanium alkoxide, a sodium alkoxide, and a first alcohol, the second solution including water and a second alcohol, the third solution including a non-ionic surfactant and a third alcohol;
- and heating the mixture to form the nanosized monosodium titanate as a particulate precipitate.
Nanosized monosodium titanate having a maximum cross sectional dimension of about 500 nanometers or less having a monodisperse distribution of particle sizes.
