Abstract
Remote surveillance systems can include an outward portion that faces away from a power outlet and can include an inward portion with electrical prongs that protrude into the power outlet. The power outlet can mechanically support the inward portion and a camera assembly. The remote surveillance system can take videos using the camera and can send the videos to a remotely located computing device.
Claims28
A remote surveillance system configured to mount to a power outlet on a wall of a building, the remote surveillance system comprising:
- an outwardly facing portion configured to face away from the power outlet;
- an inwardly facing portion having a first electrical prong and a second electrical prong that protrude into the power outlet to mount the inwardly facing portion to the power outlet;
- a camera assembly coupled to the outwardly facing portion, the camera assembly having a camera;
- and
- a separable connection configured to couple the outwardly facing portion to the inwardly facing portion such that the power outlet mechanically supports the camera assembly, wherein the separable connection is configured to enable decoupling the outwardly facing portion from the inwardly facing portion, wherein the separable connection comprises a first mounting bracket and a second mounting bracket.
A remote surveillance system configured to mount to a power outlet on a wall of a building, the remote surveillance system comprising:
- a housing comprising an outwardly facing portion configured to face away from the power outlet and comprising an inwardly facing portion having a first electrical prong and a second electrical prong that protrudes into the power outlet to mount the inwardly facing portion to the power outlet, wherein the outwardly facing portion is separable from the inwardly facing portion;
- a camera assembly coupled to the outwardly facing portion, the camera assembly having a camera;
- and
- a button coupled to the outwardly facing portion, wherein the button is configurable to enable a visitor to sound a chime that is communicatively coupled to the remote surveillance system.
A method of using a remote surveillance system comprising a remotely located computing device and a security system, wherein the security system comprises an outwardly facing portion having a camera assembly and an inwardly facing portion having a first electrical prong and a second electrical prong, the method comprising:
- mounting the security system to a wall of a building by inserting the first electrical prong and the second electrical prong into a power outlet;
- and
- decoupling a first mounting bracket from a second mounting bracket, wherein the first mounting bracket is coupled to the outwardly facing portion and the second mounting bracket is coupled to the inwardly facing portion.
A remote surveillance system configured to mount to a power outlet on a wall of a building, the remote surveillance system comprising:
- an outwardly facing portion configured to face away from the power outlet;
- an inwardly facing portion having a first electrical prong and a second electrical prong that protrude into the power outlet to mount the inwardly facing portion to the power outlet;
- a camera assembly coupled to the outwardly facing portion, the camera assembly having a camera;
- a separable connection configured to couple the outwardly facing portion to the inwardly facing portion such that the power outlet mechanically supports the camera assembly, wherein the separable connection is configured to enable decoupling the outwardly facing portion from the inwardly facing portion;
- and
- an electrical cable that electrically couples the outwardly facing portion to the inwardly facing portion to provide electricity when the outwardly facing portion is in the location away from the power outlet.
