Abstract
This disclosure relates to novel xylose isomerases and their uses, particularly in fermentation processes that employ xylose-containing media.
Claims39
An isolated nucleic acid sequence which encodes a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 95%, 97% or 98% sequence identity to amino acid residues 2-377 of SEQ ID NO:96, wherein the nucleic acid encodes a polypeptide with at least one substitution relative to SEQ ID NO:
- 96 or at least one heterologous amino acid flanking the N-terminal or the C-terminal.
An isolated nucleic acid sequence having at least 90%, 93%, 95%, 96%, 98%, or 99% sequence identity, or having 100% sequence identity, to the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 95, or to a portion thereof and encoding a xylose isomerase catalytic or dimerization domain, wherein the nucleic acid comprises at least one substitution relative to SEQ ID NO:
- 95 or is codon optimized.
