Abstract
A data storage system and associated method of use may generally be directed to a memory cache that stores a plurality of pending read and write requests. A processor can be configured to prioritize the read requests in the memory cache in response to a sensed acoustic or mechanical vibration in a data storage medium.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a memory cache storing a plurality of pending read and write requests with a first operating ratio having an equal number of read and write requests;
- and
- a processor configured to, in response to a sensed vibration in a data storage medium, limit write commands entering the memory cache to alter the operating ratio, prioritize the existing read requests in the memory cache, and change reading conditions.
A method comprising:
- storing a plurality of pending read and write requests in a memory cache with a first operating ratio having an equal number of read and write requests;
- sensing vibration in a data storage medium;
- limiting write commands entering the memory cache to alter the operating ratio in response to the sensed vibration;
- prioritizing existing read requests in response to the sensed vibration with at least one processor;
- and
- changing a rotational speed reading condition of the data storage medium with the at least one processor in response to the sensed vibration.
