A head-worn device suitable for use in a vehicle that minimizes a physiological effect selected from the group of vertigo, motion sickness, motion intolerance, and spatial disorientation resulting from sensory mismatch between a person's visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive organs, the device comprising:
- a unit suitable for attachment to a person's head further comprising:
- a first orientation reference symbol wherein the first orientation reference symbol stays in a fixed visible position in the person's left eye field of view when the person's head moves;
- a second orientation reference symbol wherein the second orientation reference symbol stays in a fixed visible position in the person's right eye field of view when the person's head moves;
- a pitch indicator that provides a visible pitch cue to the person wherein the visible pitch cue is responsive to inertial pitch of the person's head and the pitch indicator does not use electricity;
- a roll indicator that provides a visible roll cue to the person wherein the visible roll cue is responsive to inertial roll of the person's head and the roll indicator does not use electricity;
- whereby the person can view the location and movement of the pitch cue and the roll cue relative to the first orientation reference symbol and relative to the second orientation reference symbol to determine the inertial orientation of the person's head.
