Abstract
A method includes sending notification messages to a plurality of subscribers of a notification platform via a plurality of communications devices of the subscribers over a plurality of communications channels, each communications device associated with at least one of the plurality of communications channels, including sending notification messages to devices over first channels associated with the communications devices. The method also includes monitoring a status of the first channels and a status of the notification messages sent over the first channels; and adapting the sending of the notification messages according to the monitored statuses, including sending at least some of the notification messages over second channels associated with the communications devices.
Claims28
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- sending notification messages to a plurality of subscribers of a notification platform via a plurality of communications devices of the subscribers over a plurality of communications channels, wherein at least one of the channels includes a first aggregator, wherein a status of the at least one of the channels includes a throughput of the first aggregator, wherein each communications device is associated with a mobile telecommunications carrier that provides mobile telecommunications services, wherein each communication device is associated with at least one of the channels from the plurality of communications channels, wherein at least some communications devices are associated with at least two channels from the plurality of communications channels, wherein sending notification messages to the plurality of subscribers comprises sending notification messages that include at least one of short-message-service messages, emails, and voice messages on first and second communications channels that implement at least one of a short-message-peer-to-peer protocol (SMPP) and a simple-mail-transfer protocol (SMTP), monitoring status of the notification messages sent over the first and second communications channel, wherein the monitored status is selected from the group consisting of a simple-mail-transfer-protocol bounce-back, an aggregator receipt notification, a carrier-receipt notification, and a handset-delivery notification, dynamically selecting an alternate communications channel for a subscriber, wherein the dynamically selecting the alternate communications channel comprises causing identification of a carrier connected via at least one of a second aggregator and a direct connection that serves the subscriber, wherein causing identification of the carrier comprises at least one of accessing the subscriber data stored in a subscriber database and causing performance of a carrier lookup to access carrier information stored in an external mobile carrier database, monitoring a status of the notification messages sent over the second communications channel, and based on the monitored statuses, dynamically adapting at least one of the sending and rerouting of the notification messages to subscribers, wherein dynamically adapting at least one of sending and rerouting of the notification messages comprises evaluating and acting upon information indicative of status, and wherein acting upon information indicative of the status comprises sending at least some of the notification messages over second communications channels associated with the at least some communications devices.
An apparatus for communicating with communication devices of subscribers of a notification platform, said apparatus comprising:
- a hardware processor programmed to implement a message-routing module and a message-status module, wherein said message-routing module transmits notification messages to said subscribers of said notification platform via communications devices of the subscribers over a plurality of communications channels, at least one of which includes a first aggregator and has a status that includes a throughput of the first aggregator,
- wherein each communications device is associated with a carrier, wherein at least some of said communications devices are associated with at least two communications channels from said plurality of communications channels, wherein said message-routing module sends the notification messages that include at least one of short-message-service messages, emails, and voice messages on first and second communications channels that implement at least one of a short-message-peer-to-peer protocol (SMPP) and a simple-mail-transfer protocol (SMTP) and that are associated with the communications devices, wherein the message-status module is configured to monitor statuses of the notification messages sent over the first and second communications channels wherein the statuses are selected from the group consisting of a SMTP bounce-back, an aggregator receipt notification, a carrier-receipt notification, and a handset-delivery notification, wherein the message-routing module adapts the sending of the notification messages according to the monitored statuses by dynamically selecting an alternate communications channel for a subscriber by causing identification of a carrier being to connected the subscriber via at least one of an aggregator and a direct connection, wherein causing identification of a carrier comprises at least one of accessing subscriber data stored in a subscriber database and causing performance of a carrier lookup to access carrier information stored in an external mobile carrier database, wherein the message-routing module is configured to dynamically adapt at least one of sending and rerouting of notification messages by evaluating and acting upon information indicative of the monitored status, and wherein the message-routing module is configured to act upon information indicative of monitored status by sending at least some of the notification messages over second communications channels associated with the at least some of communications devices.
A manufacture comprising a non-transitory computer-readable medium having encoded thereon instructions for causing a computer system to execute a computer-implemented method of sending notification messages to a plurality of subscribers of a notification platform via a plurality of communications devices of the subscribers over a plurality of communications channels, wherein at least one of the channels includes a first aggregator, wherein a status of the at least one of the channels includes a throughput of the first aggregator, wherein each communications device is associated with a mobile telecommunications carrier that provides mobile telecommunications services, wherein each communication device is associated with at least one of the channels from the plurality of communications channels, wherein at least some communications devices are associated with at least two channels from the plurality of communications channels, wherein sending notification messages to the plurality of subscribers comprises sending notification messages that include at least one of short-message-service messages, emails, and voice messages on first and second communications channels that implement at least one of a short-message-peer-to-peer protocol (SMPP) and a simple-mail-transfer protocol (SMTP),monitoring status of the notification messages sent over the first and second communications channel, wherein the monitored status is selected from the group consisting of a simple-mail-transfer-protocol bounce-back, an aggregator receipt notification, a carrier-receipt notification, and a handset-delivery notification, dynamically selecting an alternate communications channel for a subscriber, wherein dynamically selecting the alternate communications channel comprises causing identification of a carrier connected via at least one of a second aggregator and a direct connection that serves the subscriber, wherein causing identification of the carrier comprises at least one of accessing the subscriber data stored in a subscriber database and causing performance of a carrier lookup to access carrier information stored in an external mobile carrier database, monitoring a status of the notification messages sent over the second communications channel, and based on the monitored statuses, dynamically adapting at least one of the sending and rerouting of the notification messages to subscribers, wherein dynamically adapting at least one of sending and rerouting of the notification messages comprises evaluating and acting upon information indicative of status, and wherein acting upon information indicative of the status comprises sending at least some of the notification messages over second communications channels associated with the at least some communications devices.
