System and method for analysis and creation of music

A system for generating sequences of abstract musical data, the method comprising:

• a memory device having executable instructions stored therein;
• and
• a processing device, in response to the executable instructions, operative to:
• extract music data blocks from sequences of abstract music data from a music input;
• identify frames of repetition from the sequences of abstract music data;
• select a set of frames independent of part;
• re-arrange the music data blocks into slots of the set of frames based on key and chord combination rules to create new sequences of abstract music data;
• compose new music data based on the new sequences of abstract music data;
• and
• convert the new music data into a music output data format file.

Non-transitory computer readable media comprising program code that when executed by a programmable processor causes execution of a method for generating sequences of abstract musical data, the computer readable media comprising:

• computer program code for extracting, via a processing device, music data blocks from sequences of abstract music data from a music input;
• computer program code for identifying, via the processing device, frames of repetition from the sequences of abstract music data;
• computer program code for selecting, via the processing device, a set of frames independent of part;
• computer program code for re-arranging, via the processing device, the music data blocks into slots of the set of frames based on key and chord combination rules to create new sequences of abstract music data;
• computer program code for composing, via the processing device, new music data based on the new sequences of abstract music data;
• and
• computer program code for converting, via the processing device, the new music data into a music output data format file.
