Abstract
Techniques for transferring a communication connection for a client device from a source network device to a target network device include receiving first and second sequence numbers and applying a first processing technique to data segments associated with sequence numbers that succeed the first and the second sequence numbers.
Claims14
A method for transferring a communication connection established between a source network device and a client device, the method comprising:
- sending a first message to the client device, the first message configured to cause the client device to reset queues of data stored in the client device;
- sending a second message to the client device, the second message configured to cause the client device to process data packets using only static information;
- using static information determined from a first group of data packets received from the source network device to process, at a target network device, a second group of data packets received from the client device;
- determining dynamic information associated with the second group of data packets from the second group of data packets;
- and
- processing a third group of data packets sent by the client device according to the static information and according to the dynamic information.

A target network device comprising:
- memory storing static information determined from a first group of data packets received from a source network device;
- one or more processors configured to
- send a first message to the client device, the first message configured to cause the client device to reset queues of data stored in the client device;
- send a second message to the client device, the second message configured to cause the client device to process data packets using only static information;
- process a second group of data packets received from the client device using the static information;
- determine dynamic information associated with the second group of data packets from the second group of data packets;
- and
- process a third group of data packets sent by the client device according to the static information and according to the dynamic information.
