Abstract
A method for reducing far-end crosstalk in an xDSL system is provided. The method includes transmitting, by a first DSL transceiver over a first line to a second DSL transceiver, a noise statistic related value that reflects a signal-to-noise ratio of the first line and receiving, by the first DSL transceiver over the first line from the second DSL transceiver, a synthesized signal pre-coded on the second DSL transceiver using filtering parameters associated with the noise statistic related value. The method further includes transmitting, by the first DSL transceiver over the first line to the second DSL transceiver in response to the reception of the synthesized signal, an updated noise statistic related value. A corresponding device for remote crosstalk cancellation is also provided.

A method for reducing far-end crosstalk in a digital subscriber line (DSL) system, comprising:
- transmitting, by a first DSL transceiver over a first line to a second DSL transceiver, a noise statistic related value that reflects a signal-to-noise ratio of the first line;
- receiving, by the first DSL transceiver over the first line from the second DSL transceiver, a synthesized signal pre-coded on the second DSL transceiver using filtering parameters associated with the noise statistic related value;
- and
- in response to the reception of the synthesized signal, transmitting, by the first DSL transceiver over the first line to the second DSL transceiver, an updated noise statistic related value;
- wherein transmitting, by the first DSL transceiver over the first line to the second DSL transceiver, the noise statistic related value comprises transmitting, by the first DSL transceiver over the first line to the second DSL transceiver, one of a one-bit sign of a difference and a two-bits sign of a difference;
- wherein the one-bit sign of the difference indicates one of the group s consisting of:
- a state representative of no change in or a decrement of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio, and
- a state representative of an increment of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio, and
- wherein the two-bits sign of the difference indicates one of the group consisting of:
- no change in the value of the signal-to-noise ratio
- a decrement of the value of the signal-to-noise, and
- an increment of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio.
A far-end crosstalk canceling device connected over a first line to a digital subscriber line (DSL) transceiver, the far-end crosstalk canceling device comprising:
- a transmitting unit configured to transmit, over a first line to the DSL transceiver, a noise statistic related value that reflects a signal-to-noise ratio of the first line;
- and
- a receiving unit configured to receive, over the first line from the DSL transceiver, a synthesized signal that is pre-coded on the DSL transceiver using filtering parameters associated with the noise statistic related value;
- wherein the transmitting unit is further configured to transmit, over the first line to the DSL transceiver, an updated noise statistic related value in response to the reception of the synthesized signal;
- wherein transmitting the noise statistic related value comprises transmitting one of a one-bit sign of a difference and a two-bits sign of a difference;
- no change in the value of the signal-to-noise ratio,
- a decrement of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio, and
- an increment of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon processor executable instructions for:
- transmitting, over a first line to a DSL transceiver, a noise statistic related value that reflects a signal-to-noise ratio of the first line;
- receiving, over the first line from the DSL transceiver, a synthesized signal that is pre-coded on the second DSL transceiver using filtering parameters associated with the noise statistic related value;
- and
- in response to the reception of the synthesized signal, transmitting, over the first line to the DSL transceiver, an updated noise statistic related value;
- wherein transmitting the noise statistic related value comprises transmitting one of a one-bit sign of a difference and a two-bits sign of a difference;
- wherein the one-bit sign of the difference indicates one of the group consisting of:
- a state representative of no change in or a decrement of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio, and
- a state representative of an increment of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio, and
- wherein the two-bits sign of the difference indicates one of the group s consisting of:
- no change in the value of the signal-to-noise ratio,
- a decrement of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio, and
- an increment of the value of the signal-to-noise ratio.
A first DSL transceiver comprising:
- at least one processor configured to:
- transmit, to a second DSL transceiver over a first line, a noise statistic related value that reflects a signal-to-noise ratio of the first line;
- receive, from the second DSL transceiver over the first line, a synthesized signal that is pre-coded on the second DSL transceiver using filtering parameters associated with the noise statistic related value;
- and
- in response to the reception of the synthesized signal, transmit, to the second DSL transceiver over the first line, an updated noise statistic related value;
- wherein transmitting the noise statistic related value comprises transmitting one of a one-bit sign of a difference and a two-bits sign of a difference;
- wherein the one-bit sign of the difference indicates one of the group consisting of:
