Abstract
Disclosed is a sealed structure for an electrochemical device having a hollow space therein, further comprising a material generating gases via thermal decomposition in the hollow space. Also, disclosed is an electrochemical device comprising a cathode, an anode, a separator, an electrolyte, a casing for the device, and the structure for the electrochemical device.
Claims6
A structure suitable for use in an electrochemical device comprising:
- (A) a hollow cylindrical tube formed of a polymer, and containing a material for generating inert gases via thermal decomposition in a hollow space thereof;
- (B) a first member formed of a polymer and sealing one end of the hollow cylindrical tube;
- and
- (C) a second member formed of a polymer or a metal and sealing the other end of the hollow cylindrical tube;
- wherein the polymer of the hollow cylindrical tube has a higher melting point than the melting point of the polymer of the first member or the polymer or the metal of the second member, and
- wherein the material for generating inert gases via thermal decomposition is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of organic peroxides, carbonate compounds, azo compounds, hydrazide compounds and carbazide compounds.
