Abstract
The disclosure pertains to methods of reducing decompensation through acute intervention including in subjects afflicted with acute decompensated heart failure. Particularly, the disclosure provides methods for treating acute cardiac decompensation by administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of relaxin.
Claims9
A method of reducing brain natriuretic peptide levels in a normotensive or hypertensive human subject who is in acute heart failure at the beginning of the administration by administering pharmaceutically active H2 relaxin to the subject.
A method of decreasing brain natriuretic peptide levels in a normotensive or hypertensive human subject with acute cardiac decompensation by administering pharmaceutically active H2 relaxin to the subject in an amount effective to reduce the acute cardiac decompensation, wherein the administration decreases the brain natriuretic peptide levels.
A method of decreasing troponin levels in a normotensive or hypertensive human subject with acute cardiac decompensation by administering pharmaceutically active H2 relaxin to the subject in an amount effective to decrease myocardial damage and reduce the acute cardiac decompensation, wherein the administration decreases the troponin level.
