Self emulsified compositions

An anhydrous emulsion composition comprising a continuous phase, a dispersed phase, and a compatibilizer present interfacially therebetween that is the reaction product of a first functional polymer dispersible in the continuous phase and a second functional polymer dispersible in the dispersed phase, the compatibilizer having at least one complementary reactive group pairing and being formed interfacially between the continuous and dispersed phases upon admixing of the continuous and dispersed phases each containing their respective first and second functional polymers dispersed therein to effect compatibilizer formation by in-situ reaction of said first and second polymers, and at least one of the continuous and dispersed phases containing a cosmetic active agent;

• wherein the complementary reactive group pairing is amine/cyclic anhydride.
