Abstract
The present invention relates to nitric oxide donor compounds having a quinone based structure, to processes for their preparation and to their use in the treatment of pathological conditions where a deficit of NO plays an important role in their pathogenesis.

A compound of formula (I)
- or steroisomers thereof, wherein
- R1 is selected from H, methyl, methoxy;
- R3 is selected from H, methyl, methoxy;
- or R1 and R3 together form —CH═CH—CH═CH—;
- R2 is H, methyl;
- n is an integer from 0 to 10;
- Q is selected from the group consisting of:
- wherein
- m is an integer from 0 to 6;
- p is an integer from 0 to 1;
- X is 0, S or is —CHONO2, with the proviso that when X is —CHONO2 then m is 0.
