## Abstract

Disclosed herein are compositions that include for example the arginine salt of carbidopa, and methods for treating neurological or movement diseases or disorders such as restless leg syndrome, Parkinson's disease, secondary parkinsonism, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's like syndrome, PSP, MSA, ALS, Shy-Drager syndrome and conditions resulting from brain injury including carbon monoxide or manganese intoxication, using substantially continuous administration of carbidopa or salt thereof together with administration of levodopa.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition comprising levodopa, arginine, and about 2% to about 6% by weight carbidopa, wherein the pH of the liquid composition is 8 to 10 at 25° C.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 1, wherein the pH is about 9.5 at 25° C.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 1, comprising about 3% by weight carbidopa.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 3, further comprising a water-soluble anti-oxidant.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 4, wherein said water-soluble antioxidant is selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acid, N-acetylcysteine, and a combination thereof.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 1, comprising at least 6% by weight levodopa.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 1, wherein the liquid composition has no precipitation when held for 48 hours at room temperature.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutically acceptable liquid composition of claim 1, wherein when the liquid composition is stable for a period of 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week, or 1 month or more at room temperature.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, wherein said composition is suitable for intravenous, oral, or intraduodenal administration.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

A method of treating a disease or disorder characterized by reduced levels of dopamine in a patient's brain, comprising administering to said patient an amount of a composition of claim 1 in an amount effective to treat said disease or disorder.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein said administering is intravenous, oral, or intraduodenal.
