The disclosed invention relates to the use of molybdenum (VI) peroxo complex containing an amino acid, such as MoO(O2)2(GLY)(H2O), in marking applications, as well as to ink formulations comprising such complexes.

An ink formulation for a marking application, the ink formulation comprising molybdenum (VI) peroxo complex containing an amino acid.
A composition comprising molybdenum (VI) peroxo complex containing an amino acid, a solvent, and a water-soluble or water-dispersable polymeric binder, wherein said complex is complex according to the general formula (I)
- MoxOy(O2)zLa(H2O)b (I)
- wherein
- “x” is an integer of 1 to 5;
- “y” is an integer of 1 to 10;
- “z” is an integer of 1 to 5;
- “a” is an integer of 1 to 3;
- “b” is an integer of 1 to 10;
- and
- L is an amino acid.
