Abstract
A device includes a chemical hydride fuel pellet having a plurality of holes extending from a first end to a second end. A plurality of tubes formed of water vapor permeable and hydrogen impermeable material extend from the first end to the second end through the tubes. A container has an inlet for water vapor containing gas coupled to the first end of the tubes and an outlet coupled to the second end of the tubes. A hydrogen outlet is coupled to the fuel pellet.
Claims21
A device comprising:
- a chemical hydride fuel pellet having a plurality of holes extending from a first end to a second end, wherein the fuel pellet is surrounded by a particulate filter;
- a plurality of tubes formed of water vapor permeable and hydrogen impermeable material extending from the first end to the second end through the holes;
- a container having an inlet for water vapor containing gas coupled to the first end of the tubes and an outlet coupled to the second end of the tubes;
- and
- a hydrogen outlet coupled to the fuel pellet.
2 more elements
A device comprising:
- a hydrogen generating fuel pellet having a plurality of holes extending from a first end to a second end, wherein the fuel pellet is surrounded by a particulate filter;
- a plurality of tubes formed of water vapor permeable and hydrogen impermeable material extending from the first end to the second end through the holes to provide water vapor containing airflow through the fuel pellet;
- a container surrounding the fuel pellet and tubes and having an inlet for water vapor containing gas coupled to the first end of the tubes and an outlet coupled to the second end of the tubes;
- and
- a hydrogen outlet coupled to the fuel pellet.
2 more elements
A method comprising:
- flowing humid air through a plurality of tubes formed of water vapor permeable and hydrogen impermeable material extending from a first end to a second end of the tubes;
- permeating the water vapor through walls of the tubes into a chemical hydride fuel pellet through which the tubes extend, the chemical hydride fuel pellet surrounded by a particulate filter;
- and
- producing hydrogen via a reaction of fuel with the water vapor and exhausting the hydrogen through a hydrogen outlet.
