Abstract
A method and apparatus for displaying received data, analyze the quality of the displayed data formulating a media-parameter suggestion for the encoder to alter the characteristics of data to be sent to the receiver, and sending from the receiver, the formulated suggestion.

A method comprising:
- transmitting first data;
- receiving a media-parameter suggestion based on an analysis of a display of the first data and a user display quality preference, wherein the analysis is independent of network conditions;
- altering, via a processor, a characteristic of additional data to be transmitted based on the media-parameter suggestion, to yield second data;
- and
- transmitting the second data for display.

- a computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- transmitting first data;
