Abstract
To facilitate the sharing of media sessions by users within a social network. In an embodiment, a social networking system provides, for a second user of a social networking system, a reference about a first media session for a first user of the social networking system. The social networking system receives a request to participate in the first media session from the second user. The social networking system facilitates provision of a second media session for the second user that is synchronized with the first media session. The first media session may include media from at least one of an audio application, a video application, and a gaming application.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- by one or more computing devices of a social-networking system, receiving from a first user an indication that a first media session has been initiated by the first user;
- by the one or more computing devices, providing a reference comprising an indication that the first media session has been initiated by the first user to a plurality of second users of the social-networking system;
- by the one or more computing devices, receiving a request from one or more second users to participate in the first media session;
- by the one or more computing devices, facilitating provision of a second media session for the one or more second users that is synchronized with the first media session, wherein the first media session has progressed to a particular point in time of a media item of the first media session, and the second media session is initiated at the particular point in time;
- and
- by the one or more computing devices, in response to facilitating provision of the second media session sending to the first user an indication that the second media session has been initiated by the one or more second users.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions that is operable when executed to:
- receive from a first user of a social-networking system an indication that a first media session has been initiated by the first user;
- provide a reference comprising an indication that the first media session has been initiated by the first user to a plurality of second users of the social-networking system;
- receive a request from one or more second users to participate in the first media session;
- facilitate provision of a second media session for the one or more second users that is synchronized with the first media session, wherein the first media session has progressed to a particular point in time of a media item of the first media session, and the second media session is initiated at the particular point in time;
- and
- in response to facilitating provision of the second media session send to the first user an indication that the second media session has been initiated by the one or more second users.
A system comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- a memory storing instructions configured to instruct the at least one processor to:
- receive from a first user of a social-networking system an indication that a first media session has been initiated by the first user;
- provide a reference comprising an indication that the first media session has been initiated by the first user to a plurality of second users of the social-networking system;
- receive a request from one or more second users to participate in the first media session;
- facilitate provision of a second media session for the one or more second users that is synchronized with the first media session, wherein the first media session has progressed to a particular point in time of a media item of the first media session, and the second media session is initiated at the particular point in time;
- and
- in response to facilitating provision of the second media session send to the first user an indication that the second media session has been initiated by the one or more second users.
