Stereoscopic image display device

A stereoscopic image display device for implementing a three dimensional (3-D) image by displaying a first image data and a second image data in a time-dividing manner, the stereoscopic image display device comprising:

• a display panel comprising a display substrate and a color filter substrate, the display panel being configured to display the first image data during an Nth (where N is a positive integer) frame period and display the second image data during an (N+1)th frame period;
• a polarization conversion substrate that is separate from the display panel and configured to convert light output from the display panel into a first polarized light in response to a first driving voltage during the Nth frame period and convert light output from the display panel into a second polarized light in response to a second driving voltage during the (N+1)th frame period;
• and
• a driving unit configured to receive signals from a first control unit and a second control unit and supply the first and second driving voltages to scan lines formed in the polarization conversion substrate,
• wherein the first control unit is configured to control scanning of gate lines formed in the display panel,
• wherein the second control unit is configured to control scanning of the scan lines formed in the polarization conversion substrate, and
• wherein a phase of a point of time at which scanning of at least one of the first and second image data starts is differently synchronized with a phase of a point of time at which scanning of at least one of the first and second driving voltage starts.
