Abstract
Various embodiments are directed to apparatuses and methods to generate a first signal representing modulation data and a second signal representing an amplitude of the modulation data, the first signal and the second signal to depend on an output signal and vary a power supply voltage to a gain stage in proportion to the amplitude of the modulation data.
Claims21
An apparatus, comprising:
- a voltage amplitude tracking output stage to generate a first signal representing modulation data and a second signal representing an amplitude of the modulation data, the first signal and the second signal to depend on an output signal, the voltage amplitude tracking output stage to vary a power supply voltage to a gain stage in proportion to the amplitude of the modulation data, the voltage amplitude tracking output stage to determine a bias current for the gain stage based on the amplitude of the modulation data and to apply the bias current to the gain stage.
A method, comprising:
- generating a first signal representing modulation data and a second signal representing an amplitude of the modulation data, the first signal and the second signal to depend on an output signal;
- varying a power supply voltage to a gain stage in proportion to the amplitude of the modulation data;
- determining a bias current for the gain stage based on the amplitude of the modulation data;
- and
- applying the bias current to the gain stage.
