Abstract
A shear layer for a shear band that is used in a tire is provided that has multiple cells having a chiral configuration. The chiral configuration may be hexagonal or tetrachiral or have other configurations.

A tire comprising a shear band with a looped shear layer forming an annular shape, said shear layer comprising units having a chiral configuration.
An apparatus comprising a tire that includes a shear band with a shear layer, said shear layer comprising units having a chiral configuration.
