Abstract
Provided herein are compositions for applying a reference marker pattern or grid to the surface of an object to be imaged three-dimensionally. These compositions can be quick drying for ease of use. Methods of use of the compositions are also provided as well as devices and kits for the application of the compositions.

A solution, comprising:
- a plurality of particles suspended in the solution;
- a propellant;
- an intermediary solvent soluble in the propellant;
- and
- a polymeric bonder adapted to bond the plurality of particles to a surface of an object to be imaged in three dimensions, the polymeric bonder being soluble in the intermediary solvent,
- wherein the solution is for the application of a contrast pattern to the surface of the object.
