Abstract
The present invention relates to the field of glycosylation engineering of proteins. More particularly, the present invention relates to glycosylation engineering to generate proteins with improved therapeutic properties, including antibodies with increased antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity.
Claims39
A method of treating cancer in a mammal in need thereof comprising administering to said mammal a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a recombinant antigen binding molecule comprising an immunoglobulin Fc region containing variant glycoforms, wherein said antigen binding molecule is obtained from a Chinese Hamster Ovary cell that has been genetically manipulated to have altered glycosyltransferase expression, and wherein said antigen binding molecule has increased Fe-mediated cellular cytotoxicity compared to the corresponding antigen binding molecule lacking the variant glycoforms obtained from a Chinese Hamster Ovary cell that does not have altered glycosyltransferase expression.
