Abstract
A method for the oxidative coupling of hydrocarbons includes providing an oxidative catalyst inside a reactor and carrying out the oxidative coupling reaction under a set of reaction conditions. The reactor surfaces that contact the reactants and products do not provide a significant detrimental catalyzing effect. In an embodiment the reactor contains an inert lining or a portion of the reactor inner surface is treated to reduce the detrimental catalytic effects. In an embodiment the reactor contains a lining that includes an oxidative catalyst.
Claims20
A reactor for the oxidative coupling of hydrocarbons comprising:
- a reactor vessel having a reaction contact surface;
- one or more inlets for feeding at least one hydrocarbon feedstream;
- an inlet for providing an oxygen source;
- an outlet for recovering a product from the reactor;
- wherein the reactor comprises a lining or coating covering at least a portion of wetted parts of the reactor, wherein the lining or coating comprises a glass lining, quartz wool, a ceramic coating comprising an oxidative catalyst, or combinations thereof, and wherein the reaction contact surface of the reactor vessel does not provide a significant detrimental catalyzing effect under conditions for the oxidative coupling of hydrocarbons;
- wherein the reactor has a single reactive zone;
- and
- wherein the single reactive zone is in fluid communication with a separation zone, and wherein the product flows from the single reactive zone into the separation zone, wherein the separation zone is in fluid communication with an alkylation reaction zone and a dehydrogenation zone.
A reactor for the oxidative coupling of hydrocarbons comprising:
- a reactor vessel having a reaction contact surface;
- one or more inlets for feeding at least one hydrocarbon feedstream;
- an inlet for providing an oxygen source;
- an outlet for recovering a product from the reactor;
- wherein the reactor comprises a lining or coating covering at least a portion of wetted parts of the reactor, wherein the lining or coating comprises a glass lining, wherein the glass lining includes a ceramic coating comprising an oxidative catalyst, and wherein the reaction contact surface of the reactor vessel does not provide a significant detrimental catalyzing effect under conditions for the oxidative coupling of hydrocarbons;
- and
- wherein the reactor has a single reactive zone.
