Spinal rod connector

A rod connector for connecting a first spinal rod and a second spinal rod, comprising:

• a housing comprising:
• a top housing component defining a top portion of a first bore hole for receiving a portion of the first spinal rod and defining a top portion of a second bore hole for receiving the second spinal rod, the first spinal rod having a first outer diameter, the second spinal rod having a second diameter, the second diameter being greater than the first diameter, the first bore hole having a third diameter, the second bore hole having a fourth diameter, the third diameter being greater than the fourth diameter;
• a bottom housing component defining a bottom portion of the first bore hole for receiving a portion of the first spinal rod and defining a bottom portion of the second bore hole for receiving the second spinal rod, the bottom housing component disposed along the top housing component such that the top portion of the first bore hole is generally aligned with the bottom portion of the first bore hole and cooperate to define the first bore hole, the top portion of the second bore hole is generally aligned with the bottom portion of the second bore hole and cooperate to define the second bore hole;
• wherein the first bore hole extends along a first longitudinal axis and the second bore hole extends along a second longitudinal axis;
• a bushing disposed in the first bore hole, the bushing defining a first rod bore for receiving the first spinal rod to allow angular movement of first spinal rod and the bushing relative to the first longitudinal axis, and no bushing disposed in the second bore hole.
