Abstract
A portable pipe thrusting apparatus for inserting and removing a pipe from a borehole, comprising a collar configured to releasably grip the pipe; and a bi-directional driver coupled between the collar and the support frame, the driver configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole, to insert and remove the pipe from the borehole, wherein the support frame is portable and is transportable by a truck to the drilling site.
Claims37
A portable pipe thrusting apparatus for inserting and removing a pipe from a borehole, comprising:
- a collar configured to releasably grip the pipe;
- a support frame;
- at least one rear leg assembly coupled to a rear end of the support frame, the at least one rear leg assembly configured to move the rear end of the support frame between a lowered position and a raised position to align the pipe with the borehole;
- and
- a bi-directional driver coupled between the collar and the support frame, the driver configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole to insert and remove the pipe from the borehole.
A portable pipe thrusting apparatus for inserting and removing a pipe from a borehole, comprising:
- a collar configured to releasably grip the pipe;
- a support frame comprising a front anchor and a central frame, wherein the front anchor is securable to the ground between the central frame and the borehole, and wherein the front anchor is hingedly connected to a front end of the support frame and is movable between a stowed position and an extended position engaging the ground;
- and
- a bi-directional driver coupled between the collar and the support frame, the driver configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole to insert and remove the pipe from the borehole.
A portable pipe thrusting apparatus for inserting and removing a pipe from a borehole, comprising:
- a collar configured to releasably grip the pipe;
- a support frame comprising a front anchor and a central frame, wherein the front anchor is securable to the ground between the central frame and the borehole;
- a bi-directional driver coupled between the collar and the support frame, the driver configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole to insert and remove the pipe from the borehole;
- at least one opening in the front anchor;
- and
- at least one support member received in the at least one opening, the at least one support member configured to connect the front anchor to the ground.
The pipe thrusting apparatus of 16, wherein the at least one support member comprises a plurality of pilings extending obliquely into the ground.
A portable pipe thrusting apparatus for inserting and removing a pipe from a borehole, comprising:
- a collar configured to releasably grip the pipe;
- a support frame;
- and
- at least one bi-directional driver comprising a double-ended hydraulic cylinder coupled to a tensile force transmitting member,
- wherein the tensile force transmitting member is secured to the collar and the cylinder is secured to the support frame, and wherein the driver is configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole to insert and remove the pipe from the borehole.
A portable pipe thrusting apparatus for inserting and removing a pipe from a borehole, comprising:
- a collar configured to releasably grip the pipe;
- a support frame;
- a bi-directional driver coupled between the collar and the support frame, the driver configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole to insert and remove the pipe from the borehole;
- and
- a removable axle and wheel assembly, wherein the support frame is mounted on the removable axle and wheel assembly for movement of the support frame.
A thrusting apparatus for assisting a drilling rig during a reaming operation of a borehole, comprising:
- a collar;
- a support frame;
- a bi-directional driver coupled between the collar and the support frame, the driver configured to drive the collar toward and away from the borehole;
- and
- an auxiliary attachment coupled to the collar and configured to threadedly engage a drill string coupled to the drilling rig,
- wherein the drilling rig is positioned at an entry of the borehole and the thrusting apparatus is positioned at an exit of the borehole.
