Pharmaceutical extracts from Egyptian broomrape have proven efficacy against HCV and NAFLD. Compositions and method of making and using same are provided.
Claims1
A method of treating hepatitis C virus (HCV), comprising administering an effective amount of a composition comprising an aqueous extract of Orobanche aegyptiaca together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier to a patient with HCV, whereby the aqueous extract of said Orobanche aegyptiaca is prepared by powdering dried Orobanche aegyptiaca, extracting with water in an autoclave under pressure and collecting and lyophilizing the filtrate, wherein the filtrate is the aqueous extract of Orobanche aegyptiaca.
