An electrophotographic photosensitive member, comprising:

• a support;
• and
• a photosensitive layer formed on the support,
• wherein the photosensitive layer comprises a phthalocyanine crystal in which a compound represented by the following formula (1) is contained:
• in the formula (1):
• R1 to R10 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group, a halogen atom, an aryloxycarbonyl group, an acyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy group;
• a substituent of the substituted alkyl group, and a substituent of the substituted aryloxy group is each a halogen atom, a hydroxy group, or an alkoxy group;
• at least one of R1 to R10 is a hydroxy group;
• and
• X1 represents one of a carbonyl group and a dicarbonyl group.
