Abstract
The invention relates to the sorghum variety designated GSV672338. Provided by the invention are the seeds, plants and derivatives of the sorghum variety GSV672338. Also provided by the invention are tissue cultures of the sorghum variety GSV672338 and the plants regenerated therefrom. Still further provided by the invention are methods for producing sorghum plants by crossing the sorghum variety GSV672338 with itself or another sorghum variety and plants produced by such methods.

A seed of sorghum variety GSV672338, a representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety GSV672338 having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121738.
A method of producing a plant of variety GSV672338, a representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety GSV672338 having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121738, comprising an added desired trait, the method comprising introducing a transgene conferring the desired trait into a plant of variety GSV672338.
A method of introducing a single locus conversion into variety GSV672338 comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of variety GSV672338, a representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety GSV672338 having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121738, with a second plant comprising a desired single locus to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting one or more F1 progeny plants that have the single locus;
- (c) crossing the one or more selected F1 progeny plants with at least a first plant of variety GSV672338 to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting backcross progeny plants that have the single locus and essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of variety GSV672338 listed in Table 1 as determined at the 5% significance level for quantitative data;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) one or more times in succession to produce selected second or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the single locus and essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety GSV672338 listed in Table 1 as determined at the 5% significance level for quantitative data.
A plant of variety GSV672338, a representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety GSV672338 having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121738, further defined as comprising a single locus conversion, wherein the converted plant otherwise comprises essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of variety GSV672338 listed in Table 1 as determined at the 5% significance level for quantitative data.
A method of producing an inbred plant derived from the variety GSV672338, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) preparing a progeny plant derived from sorghum variety GSV672338, a representative sample of seed of said sorghum variety GSV672338 having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-121738, by crossing a plant of the variety GSV672338 with a plant of a second variety;
- (b) crossing the progeny plant with itself or a second plant to produce a seed of a progeny plant of a subsequent generation;
- (c) growing a progeny plant of a subsequent generation from said seed and crossing the progeny plant of a subsequent generation with itself or a second plant;
- and
- (d) repeating the crossing step and the growing step for an additional three or more generations with sufficient inbreeding to produce an inbred plant derived from the variety GSV672338.
