A recombinant E. coli bacteria, comprising an overexpressed pyruvate carboxylase (pyc) activity, plus overexpressed scrK, scrY scrA, scrB, and scrR activities, wherein said bacteria produce at least 1.9 moles of succinate per mole of sucrose carbon source when said bacteria are grown aerobically for a period of time at 40% ±7% O2.
A recombinant E. coli bacteria, comprising an overexpressed pyruvate carboxylase (pyc) activities, plus an overexpressed scrK, scrY scrA, scrB, and scrR activities, plus reduced acetate kinase (ack) or phosphotransacetylase (pta) or both ack-pta activities, and reduced repressor of aceBAK operon (iclR) activity, wherein said bacteria produce at least 1.9 moles of succinate per mole of sucrose carbon source when said bacteria are grown aerobically for a period of time at 40% ±7% O2.
A recombinant E. coli bacteria, comprising overexpressed scrA, scrB, scrK, scrY and scrR activities, plus deactivated acetate kinase (ack) or phosphotransacetylase (pta) or both ack-pta activities, and reduced repressor of aceBAK operon (iclR) activity, wherein said bacteria produce at least 1.9 moles of succinate per mole of sucrose carbon source when said bacteria are grown aerobically for a period of time at 40%±7% O2.
