A ruthenium complex represented by the formula:
- RuCl2(L)(dmf)n (V)
- wherein L is an optically active form of 1,2-bits(2,5-diisopropylphosphorano)benzene;
- dmf is N,N-dimethylformamide;
- and
- n is an integer of one or more.
