Abstract
The invention provides isolated nucleic acid encoding one or more gene products that allow for degradation of caffeine and related structures, and for preparation of intermediates in that catabolic pathway. Further provided are methods of using one or more of those gene products.
Claims19
An isolated chimeric polypeptide which comprises a N-demethylase or a reductase having at least 96% amino acid sequence identity to a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO:
- 37, or having at least 85% identity to a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO:38 or 39 or SEQ ID NO:43.
An isolated polynucleotide encoding a chimeric polypeptide having a N-demethylase or a reductase with at least 96% amino acid sequence identity to a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO:
- 37, or having at least 85% identity to a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO:38 or 39, or SEQ ID NO:43.
A composition comprising a plurality of isolated polypeptides, wherein one of the plurality of polypeptides is a fusion polypeptide having at least 96% amino acid sequence identity to a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide comprising SEQ ID NO:
