Coordinated power boost and power back-off

A method of operating a first base station in a communications network, the method comprising:

• identifying a radio resource for power coordination, wherein the radio resource is for a communications link between the first base station and a first user device;
• transmitting a message indicating the identified radio resource to a second base station for power boost coordination between the first base station and the second base station;
• and
• providing a power boost on the identified radio resource to the first user device.

A base station of a wireless communications network, the base station comprising:

• an antenna;
• a transceiver;
• and
• a processor, the processor configured to:
• identify a radio resource for power coordination, wherein the radio resource is for a communications link between the first base station and a first user device;
• transmit a message indicating the identified radio resource to a second base station for power boost coordination between the first base station and the second base station;
• and
• provide a power boost on the identified radio resource to the first user device.
