Image processing system, image processing method therefor, and storage medium

A data processing method, comprising:

• obtaining a measurement result from measurement of a color chart which is printed based on color chart data, and obtaining target value corresponding to the color chart;
• and
• determining, based on the measurement result and the target value,
• (i) whether or not to execute profile generation processing for generating a color profile by measuring mixed color patches which are printed with printing materials of a plurality of colors;
• and
• (ii) whether or not to execute calibration processing by measuring single color patches which are printed with each of the printing materials of the plurality of colors,
• in the determining, it is determined to execute the profile generation processing in a case where a color difference value between the measurement result and the target value is larger than a first value, it is determined to execute the calibration processing and not to execute the profile generation processing in a case where the color difference value is not larger than the first value and is larger than a second value smaller than the first value, and it is determined to not to execute both the profile generation processing and the calibration processing in a case where the color difference value is smaller than the second value.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program for causing a computer to function as:

• an obtaining unit configured to obtain a measurement result from a measurement of a color chart which is printed based on color chart data, and to obtain a target value corresponding to the color chart;
• and
• a determination unit configured to determine, based on the measurement result and the target value,
• (i) whether or not to execute profile generation processing for generating a color profile by measuring mixed color patches which are printed with printing materials of a plurality of colors;
• and
• (ii) whether or not to execute calibration processing by measuring single color patches which are printed with each of the printing materials of the plurality of colors,
• wherein the determination unit determines to execute the profile generation processing in a case where a color difference value between the measurement result and the target value is larger than a first value, determines to execute the calibration processing and not to execute the profile generation processing in a case where the color difference value is not larger than the first value and is larger than a second value smaller than the first value, and determines not to execute both the profile generation processing and the calibration processing in a case where the color difference value is smaller than the second value.
