Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH164731. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH164731, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH164731 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH164731.
Claims21
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH164731, produced by crossing a first plant of corn variety CV960250 with a second plant of corn variety CV646435, wherein representative seed of said corn varieties CV960250 and CV646435 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-13120 and PTA-10243, respectively.
A method of producing hybrid corn seed comprising crossing a plant of variety CV960250 with a plant of variety CV646435, wherein representative seed of variety CV960250 and variety CV646435 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-13120 and PTA-10243, respectively.
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH164731 further comprising at least one single locus conversion, produced by crossing a first plant of corn variety CV960250 with a second plant of corn variety CV646435, wherein representative seed of said corn varieties CV960250 and CV646435 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-13120 and PTA-10243, respectively, and wherein one or both of the first plant and second plant comprises the single locus conversion, and wherein a hybrid plant grown from the seed comprises the single locus conversion and otherwise essentially all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of hybrid corn variety CH164731 listed in Table 1 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
A method of introducing a heritable trait into hybrid corn variety CH164731 comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing at least a first heritable trait into at least one inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of corn variety CV960250 and corn variety CV646435 to produce a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait, wherein the heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing and wherein representative samples of seed of corn variety CV960250 and corn variety CV646435 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-13120 and PTA-10243, respectively;
- and
- (b) crossing a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV960250 and CV646435 to produce a plant of hybrid corn variety CH164731 comprising the heritable trait.
