Compounds and methods for the treatment of viral infection

A compound represented by the formula (Formula I):

• wherein:
• Ar is an aryl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms or a heteroaryl group having 6 to 30 atoms, wherein the aryl or heteroaryl group may be substituted with 1-3 substituents;
• Q is O, S, or CR4R5, wherein R4 and R5 are independently selected from H and C1-C6 alkyl;
• X is H, or CH2OH;
• R1 and R2 are independently selected from H, or the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C20 alkyl, C2-C20 alkenyl, C1-20 alkoxy, C2-C20 alkynyl, or C3-C20 cycloalkyl;
• or
• R1 and R2 are fused to form a contiguous carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring consisting of 3-20 carbons in total;
• and
• each of R and R3 is independently selected from the group consisting of H, and optionally substituted C1-C20 alkyl, C3-C20 cycloalkyl, C2-C20 alkenyl, C1-20 alkoxy, or C6-C30 alkynyl;
• or
• R and R1 are taken together with the nitrogen and carbon atoms to which they are respectively attached to form a ring consisting of 4-6 C or N atoms;
• pharmaceutically acceptable salts, amine prodrugs, ester prodrugs, carbamate and carbonate prodrugs, ureide prodrugs, and phosphate prodrugs thereof;
• with the proviso that if Ar is phenyl, R is H, R1 and R2 differ and consist of a methyl and an H, X is H, R3 is H or methyl, then Q cannot be O.
