Abstract
The present invention relates to the use of arsenic compounds such as sodium meta arsenite (NaAsO2), arsenic trioxide (As2O3), and arsenic hexoxide (As4O6) or combinations thereof, for the treatment of painful, hyperalgesic and/or inflammatory conditions. The present invention also relates to compositions containing the above arsenic compounds for use in the treatment of pain, inflammation and immunological and autoimmune diseases and disorders.

A method of treating cancer-associated pain in a cancer patient experiencing pain associated with the cancer comprising orally administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a composition consisting essentially of sodium meta arsenite and optionally, administering a non-arsenic pain medicament and/or anti-inflammatory agent.
A method of treating cancer-associated inflammation in a cancer patient experiencing inflammation associated with the cancer comprising orally administering to the patient a composition consisting essentially of a therapeutically effective amount of sodium meta arsenite and optionally, administering a non-arsenic pain medicament and/or inflammatory agent.
A method of treating pain and/or inflammation associated with bone cancer in a cancer patient experiencing pain and/or inflammation associated with the cancer comprising orally administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a composition consisting essentially of sodium meta arsenite and optionally, an anti-inflammatory agent.
