Abstract
A frying apparatus includes a container for holding a volume of oil, a basket dimensioned to be received in the container, a spit rod supported by said basket, and a motor having an output shaft configured for engagement with said spit rod for rotating said spit rod in relation to said basket.
Claims7
A method of cooking a food item with a fryer equipped with a container and a body of oil in said container, said method including the steps of:
- heating said body of oil;
- positioning said food item on a spit, said spit having a longitudinal axis;
- only partially immersing said food item in said body of oil within said container, such that a contact area between said food item and said oil is created on a surface of said food item;
- and
- rotating said spit about said axis to rotate said food item within said body of oil;
- wherein rotating said food item changes said contact area such that a substantial entirety of said food item is immersed in said body of oil upon one full revolution of said spit in a single cooking cycle.
