Abstract
A social networking service allows a user of the service to create an interest list associated with a topic of interest, where the interest list includes members that may post content via the social networking service. Members of the interest list may post content associated with the topic. Other users of the social network service may subscribe to the list, and these subscribers may then receive a feed that contains the content posted by the members of the interest list.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- receiving a request from a user of the social networking system to create an interest list comprising posted content that is associated with a topic;
- maintaining a definition of members of the interest list, the members comprising users of the social networking system that can provide content that is included in the interest list;
- maintaining a set of subscribers to the interest list, wherein the subscribers are users of the social networking system that receive the interest list;
- receiving posted content from one or more of the members of the interest list;
- receiving a request from a subscriber to the interest list for a display of content associated with the interest list;
- generating the display of content that comprises the posted content received from the one or more members of the interest list;
- and
- providing the generated display of content for display to the subscriber to the interest list.
A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing executable instructions, the instructions when executed perform steps comprising:
- receiving a request from a user of the social networking system to create an interest list comprising posted content that is associated with a topic;
- maintaining a definition of members of the interest list, the members comprising users of the social networking system that can provide content that is included in the interest list;
- maintaining a set of subscribers to the interest list, wherein the subscribers are users of the social networking system that receive the interest list;
- receiving posted content from one or more of the members of the interest list;
- receiving a request from a subscriber to the interest list for a display of content associated with the interest list;
- generating the display of content that comprises the posted content received from the one or more members of the interest list;
- and
- providing the generated display of content for display to the subscriber to the interest list.
