Directed design updates in engineering methods for systems

A method, comprising:

• simulating, with a processor, a model that comprises a plurality of simulated components;
• arranging, with the processor, the plurality of simulated components in a component hierarchical graph such that a combination of the plurality of simulated components forms the model;
• generating, using an inference engine, one or more redesign recommendations for at least one simulated component of the plurality of simulated components in the simulated model based on redesign recommendation rules and the at least one simulated component in the component hierarchical graph;
• and
• displaying, with a display generator, the redesign recommendations to a first user.

A non-transitory processor readable storage media storing a program that when executed in a processor of a device causes the processor to perform a method, the method comprising:

• simulating a model that comprises a plurality of simulated components;
• arranging the plurality of simulated components in a component hierarchical graph such that a combination of the plurality of simulated components forms the model;
• generating, using an inference engine, one or more redesign recommendations for at least one simulated component of the plurality of simulated components in the simulated model based on redesign recommendation rules and the at least one simulated component in the component hierarchical graph;
• and
• displaying the redesign recommendations to a first user;
• and
• generating a hierarchical tree that comprises a model view builder and a component view builder;
• wherein the model view builder provides a model hierarchical graph that represents a chronological order in which the user modified the model;
• wherein the component view builder provides the component hierarchical graph that comprises a component that was modified in the model using the redesign recommendations.
