Portable digital image detector positioning apparatus

An imaging system comprising:

• a radiation source;
• a digital detector;
• a first receiving structure and a second receiving structure each configured to receive the digital detector;
• and
• system control circuitry configured to control exposure of the digital detector by the radiation source and to acquire image data from the digital detector;
• at least two location sensors and at least two sensor actuators configured to activate the at least two location sensors, wherein the digital detector includes the at least two location sensors and the first receiving structure and the second receiving structure each include a respective sensor actuator of the at least two sensor actuators to activate different location sensors of the at least two location sensors of the digital detector, or wherein the digital detector includes the at least two sensor actuators and the first receiving structure and the second receiving structure each include a respective location sensor of the at least two location sensors to be activated by a different one of the at least two sensor actuators of the digital detector;
• wherein the digital detector is configured to communicate its location to the system control circuitry based on receipt of the digital detector by the first or second receiving structures.
